YOUR FRIEND DESERVES THE BEST CARE

If your pet is hospitalized with us, we want to assure you that your pet will receive lots of love and tender care from our team of highly skilled, deeply compassionate technicians and doctors who closely monitor all of our in-house patients around the clock. Our pledge is to utilize the exceptional skills of our doctors, combined with the most advanced diagnostic tools, treatments and surgical methods, to ensure that each and every pet we help will receive extraordinary care.

Getting updated

Open and clear communication between you and our hospital staff is very important. Our staff will continually update you on the progress of your pet and you are always welcome to call for a quick update or if you have any questions or concerns. Your doctor will give you a "best time" to call and check in for updates or questions. If you call at other times, the medical team may be busy with other patients and may only be able to give you limited information; or you may have to leave a message on their voice mail. Calls are returned at the earliest opportunity.

If your call is an emergency, please indicate to the receptionist that you need to speak with the emergency staff. And, please be assured that if there are any changes in your pet's condition, we will call you as soon as possible.

Visitation and Discharge

In order to ensure that your pet recovers with the least amount of interruption, we generally limit visitation times. If you would like to visit your pet, please contact your MVS doctor to determine the best times.

Discharge appointments should be scheduled with your LVSES specialist or technician according to their regularly scheduled hours, generally Monday thru Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. When you arrive to pick up your pet, your doctor or technician will give you a complete report, answer your questions and provide you with at-home recovery and continued care instructions.

If you can only arrange to discharge your pet at a time when your LVSES specialist is unavailable, another member of our medical staff will meet with you to review discharge information. Any unanswered questions regarding your pet, can be phoned into your LVSES specialist on the next business day.

Life Saving Measures

The Louisville Veterinary Specialists & Emergency Services team of board-certified specialists, veterinarians and technicians care deeply about the health and well-being of your pet. Yet sometimes, despite our best efforts, serious injuries or illnesses are not always treatable or the stability of your pet's condition can worsen during treatment or surgery.

It is important for you and your family to take time to consider whether or not you will want our team to take life saving measures. Unless directed otherwise, the LVSES medical staff will attempt to resuscitate your pet. These steps can be expensive and the results cannot be guaranteed.

Please let us know your wishes: whether or not you desire resuscitation if your pet's heartbeat or breathing should stop.

You Make The Difference

We know that your pet is not "just a pet" to you, nor is he or she to us. We know that we are caring for a member of your family which is why our team of board-certified veterinary specialists, doctors, technicians and staff deliver an unparalleled level of specialty and 24/7 emergency care.

We appreciate your continued efforts to understand your pet's condition and to follow the discharge instructions. This will help make a difference in your pet's recovery and on-going quality of life. Thank you for choosing Louisville Veterinary Specialty & Emergency Services.
