Erica Tolar received her DVM in 2003 from the University of Illinois, then moved to Tennessee and completed a rigorous internship in small animal medicine.  She returned to the University of Illinois, and completed a 3-year ophthalmology residency.  Erica is board certified and a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists.

Dr. Tolar’s additional study interests include equine as well as small animal corneal diseases, which have led to several publications and lectures.  Dr. Tolar is thrilled to be in Louisville and works at Louisville Specialty and Emergency Services solving the eye problems of small animals.  In addition to seeing small animals Dr. Tolar will make ambulatory calls to see horses.  Her volunteer effort is directed toward the Louisville Zoo and has been honored to help with some cases.

Erica and her husband Matt share their home with 3 dogs, 3 horses and a bird.  She is also an avid Saddlebred horse enthusiast and gardener.
