Dr. Yelton is a native of Massachusetts where she attended Tufts Veterinary School graduating in 2006. She completed an Internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at Norwalk Veterinary Referral Emergency Center in Connecticut and worked previously in emergency practice in Cheshire Connecticut prior to moving to Kentucky with her husband Dr. Usechak. She enjoys emergency work and critical care and her professional interests include infectious diseases and immune mediated diseases.
Her favorite state is Vermont where she spent her college years and many vacations and loves it for it's foliage, cheese, skiing and hiking. When she is not at the hospital she can be found spending time with her Chesapeake bay retriever Walden, her horse Max, or her tortoise Lyle. Walden was bred by New Jersey Red Lion Kennels. Max is a retired race horse who grew up in Kentucky and Lyle is an Afghan tortoise who made his way to the doorstep of a wildlife rehabilitation center Dr. Yelton worked at long before veterinary school. Her hobbies outside of work include backpacking and horseback riding.
