Veterinary acupuncture
 |
Acupuncture can benefit many veterinary patients with a variety of chronic problems. Scholar, a 9-year old Labrador, has early arthritis of the right shoulder. He is receiving acupuncture and also is being treated with standard therapy, including low doses of antiinflammatory medications. Two electrodes are attached to the needles to apply small currents of electricity. As of June, 2008, Scholar continues to be pain free and the doses of antiinflammatory medication are decreasing! |

DZ, a 10-year old mixed breed dog, who has several problems that are being treated with standard therapy and acupuncture. She has severe arthritis of both knees, lower back arthritis and heart disease. Electroacupuncture is being applied to her knees and her back. She has been treated for several months and is doing well. DZ also had a kidney removed several years ago and has had no problems with having only one kidney. DZ is doing very well, as of June, 2008, and has had several of her medications decreased without return of pain or lameness. |
