Minnie required the respirator (ventilator) after suffering a spinal cord injury to the neck. She is currently a normal dog!!
LVSES is the only 24-hour facility in Louisville and the
surrounding area to offer the use of a critical care respirator (also called a ventilator).
This piece of equipment provides breathing to the dog or cat with
respiratory problems due to injury to the spinal cord of the neck or primary diseases of the lung.
Dr. Day was the course leader at the International Veterinary
Emergency and Critical Care Society annual meetings on how to use
this piece of equipment. He has taught over 150 veterinarians on
the proper use of the respirator. |
